Umbos are hand-painted and printed in Portland, Oregon - something we’re very proud of in a world of AI art and robot writers. Beep boop beep!
Every Umbo greeting card is created by Portland artist Emma Shafer, and takes months to complete. Umbos begin as a draft sketch, and then go through several revisions before Emma paints them using a technique developed just for Umbo Cards PDX.
You know your Umbo is authentic if it has Emma’s initials hidden in the art. You can’t see these initials on web images - they're only visible on the printed greeting cards. Each card also features draft art on the back, the name of the original piece, and the Umbo mushroom type - all found in the Pacific Northwest!
